ABOUT MODEL MOSQUE

Model Mosque is a national competition to find the best mosque in the UK. The ultimate aims of the show are to improve standards within UK mosques and to share best practice amongst mosques. The show has nothing to do with the size, layout or architecture of a mosque. It has everything to do with the services the mosque provides for its local community and how well the mosque manages relations with the local host community.

Model Mosque is a knock-out competition format.
  • Each week 2 mosques will compete against each other on Islam channel.

  • The audience will be invited to vote for the mosque that they think is the better of the two mosques on that weeks show.

  • The winner will be announced on the show the following week.

  • The winner will then progress to round 2 of Model Mosque.

  • The mosques are represented by the General Secretary of the mosque and one other committee member/trustee.

In the show the presenter will ask the mosque representatives 5 questions, these questions have been designed to showcase the policies and procedures of the mosque.

The audience will also see a 12 minute video show-reel of the mosque. This will give the audience the chance to see every different room in the mosque and make an informed choice as to who to vote for.

  • The 1st round (quarter finals) will reduce the mosques from 8 to 4

  • The 2nd round (semi-finals) will further reduce the mosques from 4 to 2

  • The final between the last 2 mosques will be held at the GPU event on November 25th 2007. The final will be judged by a select cross section of umbrella organizations that represent all walks of Muslim life within the UK.

  • The winning mosque will receive a £35 000 consultancy project from Emica Consultants as well as a 1 hour special documentary to be screened on Islam Channel.
