Islam Channel News Team Profiles
Darren Sharif Eletr

Half-Egyptian Darren was born in London where he studied Middle East Politics, an interest which eventually led him into journalism. He then spent two years with the Muslim Weekly as the paper's Home Affairs Editor. In 2005 Darren spent 6 months in Egypt to learn Arabic and get to know his cultural roots better. He joined the Channel in May 2006 and is a member of the growing news team.

Hassan Ghani

Hassan was raised in Glasgow, Scotland. He graduated with a degree in broadcasting from Stirling University, specializing in television documentary. Prior to joining Islam Channel he worked as a freelance with BBC Scotland in television and radio. Hassan joined the news team in June 2006.

Danyel Aadams

After studying law at university Danyel travelled to parts of the Middle East and Asia, including Palestine were he lived and taught English to children. His travels were something that were to affect him permanently as upon his return to Britain he decided to take a dramatic change in his life, and started to work in the media trying to expose the injustices that much of the world’s media chooses to turn a blind eye too.

Horia Al-Hadad

Horia’s interest in journalism first began in her teens, when she joined a children’s news agency that allowed her to publish articles, produce documentaries and even report for Sky News. It was a hobby that eventually led to a career. A few years and a journalism degree later, she finally ended up at Islam Channel News, where she’s been working since July 2007.

Nina Arif

Nina Arif was born and raised in London where she completed a BA Journalism degree and a documentary film-making course, whilst juggling different sales jobs. From an early age, she developed an interest in current affairs and the issues that she feels, are in large part overlooked by the mainstream media. She now wishes to use her past experience in sales to sell a 'truer' picture of world events and hopes that she can, in the long-term, incite some positive change. Nina joined the Islam Channel News team in October 2007.
