1. So what is City Sisters about and who is it aimed at?

City Sisters is a 10 part series on Islam Channel directed towards women. It will be covering all lifestyle topics including fashion, shopping, cooking, women's health issues and much more. The Idea is to depict the Muslim women in a completely new light, a way in which the media has not covered to this date. There will be interviews with high profile women who will inspire the young Muslim women of today. Female artists, singers, professional make up artists etc. It really is an open to all programme, and will appeal to women from all walks of life insha’Allah! The main target audience are women who are perhaps new to Islam and find there are so many rules that need to be followed making Islam initially very difficult, but this show ultimately hopes to show that you can practice Islam fully AND do so many interesting and fun things at the same time Alhamdulilah!

2. Why are ONLY young sisters presenting the show?

Sisters are presenting this show, well because this show is for sisters! Women are a large part of the demographic watching the Islam channel and this show is an opportunity to cater for their needs. The sisters on the show vary from their 20’s to their 30’s that is more of a reason why this show will be of great interest because each sister will have their own viewpoints! We are aiming to provide a fun show that is both informative and open minded so that sisters watching can explore various aspects of life in the west.

3. Why are the sisters wearing make up?

The presenters are covered and dressed in a fashion that is Islamic; you may find that they have a bit of make-up on but this is to appear presentable and sometimes studio lighting washes out a lot of colour from people's skins so the minimum makeup is used to restore the loss of colour inshaAllah.

4. The sisters are meant to be (not so loud), Islamic and reserved?

We all know that when sisters in Islam come together they have a happy time. Alhamdulillah we do smile and laugh as well as have in-depth conversations about Islam and our lives. We want to show that Muslim women are not intimidating and oppressed as non-Muslim media has been presented to the world. City Sisters is a show for Muslim and non-Muslim women alike to understand that we all go through a similar pattern in life such as marriage, self-esteem, ruggling career with family life, cooking! Etc.

5. Why is there so much music being used on this show?

In todays climate music is all around us and although the use of music has not been used throughout the show- it has been in the segments to appeal to the younger generations of muslimahs.
