GPU Education Awards 2007

There are 127 full-time Muslim schools in the UK. They are setting standards of all-round excellence and nurturing a new generation of upstanding high achievers. Muslim schools dominate the top of the UK value-added tables, and consistently outperform local non-faith schools.

The Education Awards is a national competition celebrating the success of Muslims within education. This year, the awards will focus on finding the most outstanding Muslim schools in the UK. The ultimate aim of the award is to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Muslim schools across the country, and thereby encourage Muslim schools to improve further and achieve even higher standards.

The show has nothing to do with the size or the amount of resources within a school. It has everything to do with the teaching, learning and environment that the school provides for its pupils and the local community. The criteria for judging schools include:

• School Academic Performance
• Extra Curricular Activities & Achievements
• Community Cohesion
• Parental Participation
• Creativity & Innovation

Panel judges include:

• Mohammed Akram Khan-Cheema – CEO of IBERR & School Inspector
• Tahir Alam - Chair of the Education Committee, MCB
• Zareen Roohi Ahmed – CEO of the British Muslim Forum
• Attaullah Parkar – Research & Development Officer, Association of Muslim Schools UK
• Foezul Ali, Chairman of Nida Trust & School teacher.
